Fylingdales
Yorkshire, England, 1986 These bizarre early warning radar domes at RAF Fylingdales on the North York Moors have now been dismantled, and replaced by a single structure which is almost as weird. Curiously, neither the domes, nor the new pyramid have been included on the Ordnance Survey maps - and this in a country which produces far and away the best maps in the world. Perhaps it was hoped that the Soviets wouldn't notice them. | ![]() |
